Der Abend setzt sich mit Kunstwerken auseinander, die, obschon sie sich online extrem zugänglich machen, so gut wie nie im öffentlichen Raum rezipiert werden. Sie werden im Privaten publiziert, für gewöhnlich mitten in der Nacht, an einer ebenso trivialen wie privaten Schnittstelle heutiger Medien, in einer rein privaten Geste des Herzeigens. Wir wollen diese Gesten öffentlich machen, die Werke in der Öffentlichkeit sehen, lasst uns bei ihrer Veröffentlichung dabei sein:

“PUBLIC INTERFACIAL GESTURE SALON”

Die folgenden Künstlerinnen und Künstler sind persönlich anwesend:

Ein Computer steht bereit, um die Arbeit per ftp-Protokoll auf euren Server hochzuladen (nicht vergessen: usb-stick mit der index.html-Seite und eure Passwörter). Nach dem Interface-Ritual der Werkveröffentlichung (das Publikum ist anwesend) besteht die Möglichkeit, eure Arbeit vorzustellen, zu erklären, wie sie funktioniert, gerne im Dialog, wenn das ok ist. Den Abend solltet ihr euch eher informell vorstellen, aber immer noch ernsthaft genug, um den Kontext eures Werks verständlich zu machen und Fragen zu beantworten. Für alle, die es nicht physisch nach Wien schaffen, gibt es einen Live-Stream und Gelegenheit zum Live-Chat.

Eine halbe Stunde lang wird eine Aktion kollaborativen Zeichnens in ein gemeinsames Google-Dokument präsentiert. Auch dieser Prozess wird live zu sehen sein und das Publikum kann sich durch Schreie bemerkbar machen, um den aktuellen Status einer Zeichnung zu erwerben. Ein Assistent wird eine PDF-Datei der Zeichnung anfertigen, in Photoqualität ausdrucken und für € 10.- verkaufen. Zum Abschluss wird ein Gruppenphoto angefertigt und zusammen mit den Links der neu veröffentlichten Kunstwerke an eine Auswahl von Weblogs verschickt, ebenso an alle, die sich in die Emailliste am Eingang des Raum D eintragen.

Biographie Constant Dullaart
(NL 1979, Rietveld Academie Amsterdam, Rijksakademie Amsterdam)

Ursprünglich als Videokünstler ausgebildet fokussiert er seine Arbeit mittlerweile auf das Internet und die Rekontextualisierung von dort vorgefundenem Material. Diese Arbeitsweise, die als “netzbewusste Kunst“ oder „post internet“-Kunst bekannt ist, thematisiert die Veränderungen unserer zeitgenössischen Umgangssprache von Computer-Benutzung und den Formen von Kontrolle, mit der Weltkonzerne (Google, Adobe, Apple) diese neue Sprachentwicklung steuern. Im Zusammenspiel von vernetzten Performances, kuratierten Salonabenden, Fotodrucken, youtube-Videos, Domain-Namen-Kunst, Blogeinträgen und Vorträgen kreiert Dullaart einen diskursiven Raum, in dem sich die Bedeutung der Veränderung dieser internationalen dominanten (Bild-) Dialekte widerspiegelt.

Seine Werke werden international gezeigt und diskutiert, z.B. auf Blogs wie vvork.com, rhizome.org, artinamerica.com, todayandtomorrow.net, trendbeheer.com, MetropolisM u.a. Dullaart hat an der Rietveld Academie unterrichtet und (co-) kuratierte mehrere Veranstaltungen in Amsterdam, Berlin und New York wie die regelmäßig abgehaltenen “Lost and Found”-Abende (Abschlussveranstaltug im New Museum), den Cyclus DVD für PARK4DTV / Mr Motley “Contemporary Semantics Beta” in Arti et Amicitiae sowie die “Versions”-Ausstellung in NIMk. Seine Arbeiten sind international an Orten wie dem Centre Pompidou in Paris, Art in General sowie MWNM Gallery in New York, dem ICA in London, NIMk, de Appel, W139, dem Stedelijk Museum, Ellen de Bruijne Projects oder der Galerie West ausgestellt. Dullaart lebt und arbeitet in Berlin und Amsterdam. Zur Zeit ist der Artist-in-Resident im MuseumsQuartier, als Gast von Transfoming Freedom.

Kind Invitation to:the PUBLIC INTERFACE GESTURE SALON

The focus of the event will be on artworks that are always extremely public, but are almost never viewed in public. Works that are released in private, mostly in the middle of the night, and are made public with a very simple but very private interfacial gesture. Lets make this interfacial gesture public, lets view these works in public, lets release these works in public,

There will be a computer for you to ftp your work to your server (bring a usb stick with the index page, and your passwords). After the ritual interfacial gesture of releasing the work (which will be seen by the audience), you will show the work and how it functions, perhaps with a Q&A, if you don’t mind. It will be informal, but still serious enough to contextualize the work, to be open for questions, to engage in conversation. There will be a live stream on ustream available to others that could not make it to Vienna, with live chat.

We will present half an hour of public Google document drawing, where they will communally draw inside a shared Google document. This process will be viewed live, and during this process the audience can yell that they want to buy the current status of the drawing. An assistant will quickly make a pdf of the drawing which will be printed on a photo quality a4 immediately , and will sell for € 10. At the end of the evening a group picture will be taken, and will be sent together with the url’s of the premiered pieces to a list of weblogs, and audience members that filled out their email addresses on a list near the entrance. This event has been made possible with the gracious help of Transforming Freedom, and WORM. Video documentation by tagr.tv.

Biography Constant Dullaart

(NL 1979, Rietveld Academie Amsterdam, Rijksakademie Amsterdam)
Trained as a video artist, his work has recently focussed on the Internet and re-contextualizing found material. Working as a so called ‘internet aware’, or ‘post internet’ artist, his work shows the changing vernacular of the contemporary computer user, and how global corporations (google, adobe, apple) control that new language.

In networked performances, curated salon evenings, photographic prints,  youtube videos, domain name works, blogposts, lectures, Dullaart finds a way to emphasize the value of changing international dominant (image) dialects. His works are widely seen and discussed online on blogs such as vvork.com, rhizome.org, artinamerica.com, todayandtomorrow.net, trendbeheer.com, etcetera, and his recently featured in the MetropolisM. Dullaart taught at the Rietveld academie, and (co)curated several events in Amsterdam, Berlin and New York, such as the periodically held Lost and Found evenings (with his final event in the New Museum), the Cyclus DVD for PARK4DTV / Mr Motley, “Contemporary Semantics Beta” in Arti et Amicitiae, and recently the exhibition “Versions” in NIMK. His work is shown internationally in places as the Centre Pompidou in Paris, Art in General and MWNM gallery in New York,ICA London, NIMK, de Appel, W139, the Stedelijk Museum, Ellen de Bruijne projects, and Gallery West. Dullaart lives / works in Berlin and Amsterdam.  Currently, Constant Dullaart is a resident of the MuseumsQuartier in Vienna.
